We really need to kick in those creative juices, and we hope that is what these ideas will do for you... Kick your mind into high gear, and get you searching for markets out there other than info marketing.
There's a market of people out there that are extremely devoted to this hobby we are about to talk about, in fact they're so dedicated most of them, that they consider this hobby as part of their way of life, not just a hobby.
This group of people spend thousands of dollars per year in their hobby like it was nothing. We have known people in this hobby that have spent more than $30,000 per year, and they just never seem to stop!
How do we know this?.. Well, because we used to be one of them.
This is the hobby known as model railroading, and it is a multi-billion dollar a year industry, and it has been growing for the last 60 years, and there seems to be no end in sight.
Model railroaders spend money on some of the craziest stuff you could imagine, like brass models that are absolute scale locomotives which can cost in the thousands of dollars each, it all depends on what your niche is.
If you're not familiar with this hobby, just do a search in your favorite search engine for the phrase "model railroading" and you will learn very quickly just how serious these people are about their hobby.
The latest information we have read states that there are more than half a million model railroaders in the US alone, and more than 1.5 million model railroaders world wide!
Now, playing off of our own knowledge of model railroaders, we know of a few things right off of the top of our heads that we believe model railroaders would pay for in a monthly membership club without much issue at all.
One thing that the majority of model railroaders simply love, and that is railroad videos.
Here's an idea that we think could make someone (or several people for that matter) very successful, and it would be a joy doing it, so you stay away from the whole "JOB" aspect of it... But, we need to fall back on a little of our info marketing learning here, and rather than try to please every model railroader, to be very successful, you would want to start out niching your idea down to a smaller group of modelers.
So, rather than trying to shoot videos that the entire nation is going to want to pay you money for, you're going to niche it down to the local railroad in your community.
If you're lucky enough to live someplace like maybe Los Angeles CA., you could easily create a few membership sites, and break your videos apart to cover all of the railroads that run on the same set of tracks out there.
But, let's just start with one railroad for this exercise.. Let's take the Big Yellow Dog, Union Pacific Railroad.
Here's what you can do, and if you're a model railroader, you'll have more fun making your living than a pig rollin' in mud!
All you have to do is go out maybe once a week for just a couple of hours to a few of your favorite train watching spots, set up your video camera, and video tape all of the trains as they do their work.
After four weeks of video taping, you'll have about 8 hours of footage to use for your site. Now just break that footage down using any of the high quality software/hardware that's available today for working with digital video on computer, and in a few hours time, you'll have plenty of video footage to share throughout the month with your members.
And, to make it a really sweet deal, you could subscribe to a few of the cutting edge Union Pacific newsletters that are out there, and share what you learn in those newsletters each month with your members. Now, to make sure you do not violate any copyright laws, you're going to want to re-word what you've learned from those newsletters into your own words.
Top off your membership site by adding in a few still images each month, and allow your members to use your photographs for their own websites, and we believe you have the making of a winner membership club.
